There are very few municipalities, societies, schools or churches in
the United States that can trace their origins back 300 years. The
First Parish Federated Church of South Berwick belongs in that
limited classification. The written record of the founding of this
church on June 4, 1702 is preserved in the church archives. These
records contain fairly complete histories of the Congregational
Church and the Methodist Church, the two religious societies which
joined in 1929 to form the present day Federated Church.
